How to get to Tossa de Mar?

The access to Tossa de Mar is very good, it can be reached by land, air and sea very easily

Tossa de Mar is located in a very privileged place on the Costa Brava, surrounded by mountains and with a unique nature, its access by road from Lloret de Mar makes it easy to use your preferred transport

The best option to get to Tossa by car is, whether you come from the north or from the south, take the AP-7 highway and take the exit number 9 towards Vidreres, Lloret de Mar and Tossa de Mar. Then continue about 13 km. on the road C-35 towards Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Platja d'Aro until exit number 94 towards Tossa de Mar. Continue on the road GI-681 about 15 km. and get directly to the center of Tossa de Mar.

There are many options to get to Tossa de Mar by bus:

  • From the Barcelona station we will have to look for the direct bus to Tossa de Mar which is managed by the company SARFA (www.sarfa.com).

  • From the Girona station we will have to find the bus that goes to Lloret de Mar and is managed by the company Sagalés (www.sagales.com), once in LLoret you have to take the bus that goes to Tossa de Mar.

  • From the stations of Blanes or Lloret de Mar we will have to look for the bus to Tossa de Mar that is managed by the company Pujol i Pujol (www.transpujol.com).

To get to Tossa de Mar by train we will have to get to Barcelona or Girona , either by AVE or regional trains if we arrive from the peninsula or High-speed trains if we arrive from France.

  • From Barcelona, at the Barcelona-Sants, Plaça de Catalunya, Arc de Triomf or El Clot-Aragó stations, take the RENFE commuter train line R1 address Maçanet-Massanes or Blanes.

  • From the Girona station, you will have to take the RENFE commuter train line R1 to Blanes.

Once at the Blanes station, we will have to take a taxi or a bus to get to Tossa de Mar.

If we decide to reach Tossa using the fastest transport, we have two options. Close to Tossa there are two airports, Barcelona and Girona.

  • Barcelona Airport: From T1 and T2 airport stations, buses leave to Lloret de Mar and Tossa de Mar. From these terminals there are also direct trains to Sants station and there you can Take the train to Blanes.

  • Girona Airport: From the airport terminal there are direct buses to Tossa de Mar and Lloret de Mar.

Although Tossa de Mar is a coastal town, it does not have a passenger port. Therefore, if our trip is by sea, the port of Barcelona is our best option since it is the closest one. Once in Barcelona, we can get to Tossa de Mar by taxi, bus, train or car.

Where to eat in Tossa de Mar?

In addition to its beaches and monuments, Tossa de Mar is an excellent tourist destination for its gastronomy.

The traditional cuisine of Tossa is marked by the characteristics of the territory, that's why its main ingredients come from the sea. The star dish of Tossa is the Cim i Tomba, it is an ancient dish that fishermen cooked when they went out to sea. Apart from the magnificent dish, in Tossa de Mar you can also eat good seafood, a good paella or a zarzuela of fish and seafood.

Through its streets we can find a wide variety of restaurants where you can eat all kinds of cuisine and enjoy our recipes. There are restaurants with local cuisine such as Catalan, Galician, Italian, Mediterranean and international and we can also find restaurants with signature cuisine.

Beaches

The Tossa coastline draws a unique landscape, with a fascinating nature, where the vegetation is very green and abundant and the rock formations give way to incredible beaches and coves.Being stretched out in one of these coves, sunbathing, reading a book, drinking a cold drink or simply contemplating nature and vegetation can be a unique experience.

The main beach of Tossa de Mar is Platja Gran, but in addition to this, the Tossa coastline is made up of a total of 4 beaches more and 9 fabulous coves. All this can be enjoyed in a distance of only 13km. Discovering each of these coves will be a very interesting and unforgettable activity. But you have to be well prepared, since some of them are so virgin that their access is only on foot, through the mountain.

Monuments

The monument par excellence is the Castillo de Tossa and it is a must visit. It is a castle of the middle ages, built at the beginning of the S.XIII to defend the town against piracy. It is kept in very good condition and that's why its beauty does not go unnoticed, walking through the interior of the walls and its streets will transport us to another era. Apart from its beauty, the distinctive fact that makes it special is that it is the only castle of a medieval town that exists in the entire Catalan coast.

In Tossa de Mar we can also visit the Roman villa that is in the best condition, the village of Els Ametllers which was discovered in 1914 and where mosaics, sculptures, coins, tools ... All these objects can be visited in the Municipal Museum of Tosssa
